Eye on Radiation Therapy
While radiation oncologists are adopting volumetric-modulated arc therapy to boost speed, Tomotherapy is employing new techniques to shorten treatment times, while maintaining its sharp accuracy. Plus, growing volumes in image data sets prompt OIMS developers to streamline solutions. |

SIIM Rewards Workflow Ingenuity

"Besides PACS, what one piece of software most improves workflow efficiency for radiologists?" SIIM posed this question to residents participating in the SIIM Resident Scholarship Award, and it is one of the many ways the society is encouraging innovation in radiology IT solutions.
At SIIM 2009, expect to see exciting innovations in workflow enhancements for radiology and the healthcare enterprise. Some of the most anticipated solutions include a PACS/EHR solution that manages documents and multimedia connectivity, RIS/PACS offerings that support business objectives, and SOA that automates the capture of power injection records to close the loop on the imaging cycle.
Plus, don't miss the debate on "Who Actually Owns Imaging?" taking place 1:15 – 2:45 p.m., Friday, June 5, in Balllroom CD. Here attendees will join this intense panel debate, as vendors, CIOs and IT explore a controversial topic. The objectives of the debate describe the interface of cardiology and radiology and address how that can be either successful or become a turf battle that neither specialty truly “wins.” The discussion will also define the challenges facing radiology as other specialists want to interpret imaging studies; and evaluate the requirements and obstacles when enterprise IT “owns” PACS.
