IMRT Planning System Offers Accurate Planning for Dose Tolerances
CMS’s Monaco IMRT planning system offers a biological model for more accurate and precise planning to account for tissue and volume-specific dose tolerances.
Monaco’s biological optimization model is designed to define the shape of the optimum dose distribution in normal tissues. The platform also provides a sensitivity analysis tool package and custom templates to reduce planning times. Other features include Monte Carlo and pencil beam dose algorithms, Smart Sequencing, constrained optimization with optional multicriterial solutions to limit dose delivery to affected organs and Voxel definition controls.
In addition, the system is equipped with image fusion, contouring, simulation and plan review features.

New VaproSure Sterilizer Cleans Entire Hospital Rooms
Hospitals have struggled to prevent hospital-acquired infections, which kill tens of thousands of people each year, and a new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved VaproSure Sterilizer made by STERIS may be more effective at cleaning patient rooms than the traditional mop-and-bucket.
Recently the EPA approved the VaproSure Sterilizer, which the maker says has been shown to effectively eradicate almost all
bacteria, viruses and MRSA. The sterilizer makes it possible to sterilize all of the exposed pre-cleaned surfaces within a sealed room.
The system uses hydrogen peroxide gas. Its first hospital customers report tests show the device killed all micro-organisms in the rooms sterilized.
